Electrical power generation has become a key issue of the 21st century. How power is generated, at what cost and at what impact to the environment are all questions that have concerned environmental advocacy groups. More recently, these issues have gravitated towards the mainstream and are being asked by a majority of utility customers.
With this increased scrutiny, political will has reached the point where additional regulation is expected. At the same time, an already complex operational footprint coupled with an aging workforce that holds much of the tacit institutional knowledge and is rapidly nearing retirement in large numbers threatens the continuation of safe, reliable electrical production and distribution.
Today’s power generation utility requires an explicit, shared and easily communicated understanding of all aspects of its business.
