Driving Quantifiable Business Improvement Using xBML

Our clients have identified over $2 billion business improvement opportunities using xBML, a revolutionary approach to business modeling. These clients have discovered that (1) improving your business requires that you first must understand your business, and (2) the greater the precision of your business model definition, the greater the results of your business improvement program. We will review how the various xBML business analysis methods – cycle time reduction, affinity analysis, compliance and governance, sourcing analysis, and IT enablement – can be applied to drive quantifiable business improvement, and how models developed in xBML can be re-used to drive all corporate initiatives – “model once, re-use relentlessly”. Real-World Example: We will also share models and results from a client project that were successfully used to drive a broad range of quantifiable business improvement initiatives. The output will include examples of how xBML “fixed” bad process maps, the use of value-added metrics, and overall findings (quantifiable savings).

Managing and Operating Your IT Organization Like a Business

As IT costs continue to rise, executives are ever more focused on understanding and maximizing their IT investment. Establishing control, reducing costs, and improving efficiency of IT are paramount. Various Framework Models (e.g., ITOM, ITIL, COBiT) have been developed for governance, service delivery, and quality control. Based on the experience and success of a leading financial institution, this Webinar will focus on how xBML was used to define an IT Operating Model (ITOM) for a leading financial institution. Using xBML, each capability area and corresponding activities were clearly defined and depicted (for the first time) and incorporated within an ITIL Framework Model. Next, the COBiT (governance) model was reviewed and used to identify additional, relevant activities. Ultimately, one model was developed that clearly depicted how the disparate capability areas fit together. That model provided a consistent view of ITOM and was used to gain consensus within the organization. The result? The IT group was far more focused and clearly understood the interrelationships and interdependencies of the disparate capability areas. In addition, they were able to identify inefficient processes and gain insight into and prioritize the areas with the greatest downstream impact.

Using xBML to Improve Operational Excellence & Regulatory Compliance

There are numerous rules and regulations governing different aspects of business, from accounting controls (e.g., SOX) to FDA regulations governing manufacturing to NRC regulations governing nuclear facilities. Compliance is costly, unavoidable, and time consuming. Compliance requires a precise, explicit understanding and depiction of business processes, regulations and the interaction between the two. This Webinar will first explore how xBML can be used to gain a complete, consistent and unambiguous understanding of all aspects of your business and establish the foundation necessary for achieving operational excellence and regulatory compliance. Then we will review how models developed for regulatory compliance can be leveraged to drive corresponding business improvement, technology enablement and strategy and management. Such model reuse uniquely generates ROI for compliance activities. We will share case studies of how several Fortune 500 and Federal agencies used xBML to ensure compliance, efficiently and cost effectively.

xBML: A Business Front-End to Lean Six Sigma

Six Sigma defines the need for Process Maps to identify process problems, conduct analyses, determine process capabilities and implement process controls. However, Six Sigma does not define HOW process maps should be developed; only WHAT they should contain. xBML business models provide the HOW and are the foundation for identifying the process capabilities and determining appropriate measures / controls. This Webinar will explore the common project extenders and deployment failures of Six Sigma and how xBML can be integrated to enhance project effectiveness and reduce costs. We will feature a case study of a Fortune 500 company and how they successfully integrated xBML into their Lean Six Sigma program and realized significant ROI.

A Revolutionary Approach to Capturing & Generating Business Requirements

Generating accurate and concise business requirements remains a challenge. Why? No robust, methodical approaches exist for gathering business requirements. And, there is a disagreement and/or lack of understanding as to what constitutes a business requirement. The result? Business requirements ARE generated, BUT they are inconsistent, and the solution that is built often does not meet the needs of anyone & requires subsequent re-work and additional investment. The majority of IT projects fail, are over-budget, and take too long. This Webinar will explore how xBML bridges the enterprise divide and is the most methodical facilitation and documentation approach to gathering and generating business requirements. We will share how one of our Fortune 500 clients used xBML to reduce the time to generate business requirements by 80%, and progressed from CMMi Level 0 to CMMi Level 3 in less than 3 months.
